Why Do Chiropractors Focus On The Back?

March 5, 2018

Chiropractor, the back Doctor

The back or spine houses a very delicate structure, the spinal cord, which is a part of our central nervous system. Our nervous systems are important in coordinating actions of the body by transmitting signals. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves.

Chiropractors know the nervous system is the one system in the body that directly affects every other system. This is because nerves conduct sensory information from every part of the body and then deliver this information to the brain. Once there, the brain analyses the information to determine what the body needs to maintain a healthy state. So, the health of this system is paramount to the good health of the rest of the body.

Chiropractors are trained to analysis the spine and check for alignment issues. Misalignment in the spine can interfere with proper nervous system function. When this occurs, imbalances cause irritation and inflammation. In turn this can cause interference with information that is transmitted along nerves and spinal cord. Thus potentially affecting any system of the body via the central nervous system control.

Chiropractors aim to restore proper nervous system function via adjustments. The effects of the adjustments can be varied and are adapted to suit the individual.
