Time for a wellness tune up?

Wellness tune ups and maintenance

If you value your health, then it’s important that you have wellness tune ups and check ups to maintain your wellbeing.

Most people regularly get their car serviced to make sure it’s running optimally and to prolong the life of the car. They also won’t hesitate to book the car into the mechanics if they hear an unusual sound or something doesn’t feel quite right. Are most people that vigilant about their own wellbeing?

Regular body tune ups and maintenance

It’s important that we eat well (quality fuel), exercise (run the car regularly) and do all the other things (keep the car serviced and clean) that contribute to your wellness. It’s equally important to give your body and mind that extra bit of wellness attention such as:

Detoxing regularly – Detox programs, Infrared Sauna and Salt Therapy.

Keeping your body aligned and relaxed – eg Chiropractic, Massage and Floatation Therapy.

Extra special nutrients for specific times of your life (such as stress & anxiety or colds) – Naturopathic advice.

Maintain strong immunity and overall balance – through Herbal Medicine, Chiropractic, Acupuncture.

The squeaky wheel (symptoms)

Most of us take our cars to the mechanics when there is an unsual noise. We don’t expect the mechanics to give us a pair of earplugs or drown out the noise with something louder. However, this is what many of us do when we use medications that treat the symptoms, but not the underlying cause. For example, a person might have a headache because they are dehydrated. They decide to take a headache tablet, but the reason for the headache (dehydration) still remains.

Your body is an amazing thing. It will provide you with all the subtle signs to make sure you act to bring it back to balance. If you ignore these signs and mask the symptoms through some unnecessary medications or self medicating (for eg heavy drinking), your body will start screaming at you through disease or some other acute reactions.

Simple wellness philosophy

Health and wellness is achievable for most of us. If you follow the 7-wellness-habits and you regularly get wellness tune ups, you are stacking the odds in your favour. If your body is telling you something isn’t right, find a health professional that is intent on finding the cause rather than chasing symptoms.

In the end it’s your body and therefore your decision. Good luck with your wellness journey.
