Our sinuses are important as they serve as the first line of defence in protecting our lungs from infection.

There are four different types of sinusitis and they are:

• Acute sinusitis: Generally lasts from 2 to 4 weeks and occurs suddenly. Most people initially think that they have a cold except that symptoms do not improve after a week.
• Subacute sinusitis: When the sinuses have been inflamed for about a 4 – 8 week period
• Chronic sinusitis: When symptoms have been present for longer than 8 weeks
• Recurring sinusitis: When an individual experiences symptoms multiple times in a year

No matter which form of sinusitis you have, salt therapy sessions can help. Salt therapy has been utilised in Europe for many decades mainly in the form of salt mines. In Australia, salt therapy has only become available in recent years but its effectiveness and popularity as a healing therapy is quickly catching on.

Instead of salt mines, Saltuary has two beautiful salt rooms constructed from many tonnes of pure Himalayan salt. A machine called a halogenerator disperses finely crushed salt particles into the air.
