Reduce stress

Did you know that just 1 hour of Float Therapy is akin to 4 hours of sleep? Especially great if you travel a lot. Floating is clinically-proven to rejuvenate and restore your mind and body, measurably reducing your blood pressure, heart rate and stress-related chemicals in the body. If you’re feeling the pressure at work or in life, try Floating at Saltuary!

Float sessions at Saltuary

Forget the small ‘tanks’—at Saltuary, our dedicated Float ‘Rooms’ provide everything you need. We offer large, luxurious float rooms that contain a private shower and change area, as well as heavenly body wash, shampoo and conditioner for you to enjoy. At the beginning and end of your session, we play soothing music to help you ease in and out of the experience.

If you’re worried about feeling claustrophobic, rest assured that you have complete control over the lights in the room, and can get in and out of the Float tank at any time. Our float rooms are big enough for you to stand up in! If you don’t want complete darkness in the tank, there are mesmerising starry lights on the ceiling that you can leave onto lull you into a state of deep bliss.

After your session, we provide robes, herbal tea and a savoury snack for added relaxation. We send you back into the world fully recharged, renewed and creatively inspired!

How will Floating benefit me?

Wondering how Float Therapy can benefit you? If you’re a busy person with a full-time job, including those looking after elderly parents or children full-time, it’s likely that you’ve experienced one of these: insomnia; stress and anxiety; inability to relax or “switch off”; and back and/or neck pain. Floatation therapy helps enormously in these areas.

Deep relaxation eases insomnia

Sleeping is the body’s natural way of healing itself. A good night’s sleep is the best method of recovering from stress or illness. But according to the Sleep Health Foundation, 1 in 3 Australians suffer from mild insomnia, meaning they don’t get the deep, restful sleep they need to perform at their best. This means that one third of Australians also have reduced productivity in their work!

Float Therapy can ease insomnia by deeply resting all of your senses and balancing your body and mind. Floating is first and foremost a physiological experience, meaning your body will respond even if your mind is ticking over anxiously. The gravity-free sensation of floating relieves your body of external pressures and lulls you into a state of deep relaxation…so much so, that many people fall asleep during the session!

“Switch off” to reduce stress and anxiety

Float Therapy is the ultimate way to “switch off” from work mode and other stress triggers in your life. No-one can turn off their mind completely, but floating provides a unique channel for meditation and calm. Floating stimulates blood flow through your tissues, releasing natural endorphins and stimulating the brain to give out theta waves, which are associated with meditation, relaxation and creativity.

If it takes a while for your mind to stop chattering, don’t despair—that’s totally normal! For many people, the first 15 minutes are spent easing into the experience. In fact, allowing your thoughts to play out is the first stage of distressing with floating. As your body relaxes into the feeling of weightlessness, you are lulled into a state of meditative calm. The remaining hour often passes quickly and effortlessly. Plenty of people report feeling lighter for days afterwards, as though a burden has been lifted.

Ease neck and back pain

Do you spend hours at a time sitting down, craning your neck and hunching your back over a desk? This is a serious issue for many workers and can result in acute or chronic neck and back problems. Float Therapy is the ultimate technique for pain reduction, taking pressure off of acute or chronic injuries, and stimulating repair and healing.

During floatation, your body releases endorphins—neurotransmitters that respond to deep relaxation by creating feelings of euphoria and contentment. In day-to-day life, these same endorphins respond to stress, fear or pain. But during a Float session, your body is perfectly still and weightless, with no muscle strain or pain, and reduced stress. Floating promotes blood circulation, bringing fresh nutrients to all parts of the body and easing neck and back pain.
